Maia Zer (b. 1962 in Tel Aviv)studied at the Avni Institute and then spent a few years in Paris and Amsterdam, where she independently continued her painting studies.
Zer specializes in naturalistic, meticulous portraiture of people, as well as rich fabrics, dead leaves and flowers.
Her opulently detailed canvases portray conflicts between light and shadow, stillness and movement, life and death – or, in her own words: “the drama which is life.”
