David Nipo was born in 1964 in Brazil. He immigrated to Israel as a child of 5 and begins his artistic education at the age of 16 at the Zionist Youth Farm in Jerusalem. At the age of 19 he enters the film industry as a scenery painter for movies, theater and advertisement. In 1990 he spends a summer semester at the International School of Art in Umbria, Italy, and in 1997 he enters the Jerusalem Studio School, under the guidance of Israel Hirschberg. He is currently settled in the Negev and teaches at the Bezalel Academy of Art.
Nipo may certainly be defined as a contemporary Old Master. His meticulously realistic work reflects deep concentration and profound observation in his surroundings, almost on the verge of spirituality, and demands the same of the viewer.
David Nipo presented his works in Golconda Fine Art in 2002 and 2004, and was the first exhibition in the new Rothschild Boulevard Golconda premises in April of 2007.
